April Fools

The other night it was a little cool out when I went to bed.  I did not thing there was any danger of my garden being slaughtered at all.  Well I woke up to take the dog out and guess what, HEAVY frost!  Damnit, a complete loss, all of my veggies leaves were fried (freeze fried it's all the rage).  Now it is time to start all over.  I am truly not happy to witness these bewildering developing disappointments.  I guess that is what I should expect when I get over eager to plant a garden.  The thing that gets me though is, I have been doing soil temperature tests and the whole nine.  I just want my home grown food so bad!  Back to the drawing board for some garden planting fun time.   On a positive note, my compost bin is really doing well.

I have also decided that the city in which I live is not a bike friendly city at all, not even close!  I was out riding the other day and nearly met my maker more times than I like to think about.   Oh well though right?

To make up for all of my negative postings, here is an enjoyable audio and visual treat!

Bike, Garden and Even Williams, what more could you ask for?

Ok, I guess the Tar Heals winning today is an important facit of the day's events.

But needless to say, my dissabled GT Outpost has been off of the battlefield for longer than it should have.  But today, it has been reserected as the beast that it is.  Owning the Road as it should.

Ooops

So I have been forgetting to update this.  Sorry my readership.

So I have had my compost bin for a while now.  Things seem to be going along quite swimmingly on the composting front.  It is starting to decompose and break down quite nicely.  Also I bought some friends to help me in the composting mission.  Some little dirty eating heroes.  I think they will have a grand ol' time processing my waste.

So a buddy of mine turned me on to somthing really freaking cool today.  It is a movie that is as old as I am.  It is called "Koyaanisqatsi: Life out of Balance" it is an enviournmental film made in 1982 is nothing but film overlaid with music.  Truely mezmorizing and highly stimulating.   Really worth a watch.

Monday Night thoughts

OK, so I got a lot done in the last couple of days.

  • Built a compost bin.
OK so yeah maybe that is not a lot of things that I have gotten done, but at least it is something.

I purchaced the "Dark Was the Night" compilation let me tell you, this is a mighty fine compilation, one that I would go so far as to say is the best compilation album ever released.

To change subjects just slightly, it is as cold as balls outside right now. I was really hoping for a warm March, I am a little excitited about getting my garden going. That being said, I would like input on what I should grow this year. I want my garden to be something more useful than in past years. In the past I have basically grown salsa gardens. I want to diversify from that approch of gardening and branch out to more practical foods. Please leave me some ideas in the comments section to give me some ideas.

New Compost Bin

So yeah, I built a new compost bin. Check it out! I am pretty proud of it myself.
